Book of Tyrael
Diablo III: Book of Tyrael, published by Insight Editions in 2013 with text by Matt Burns and Doug Alexander, is the second of the in world Character Tomes. Where Book of Cain is a scholar's history, Book of Tyrael is a witness account: the former Archangel of Justice, now mortal, recording what he knows of Sanctuary, its peoples and its dangers for the new Horadrim he is gathering.
The verified identifiers are the hardcover of 2013 at 9781608872794 and the paperback of 2016 at 9781608878031. The paperback pair for Cain and Tyrael were issued in matching form, which is why the two paperback ISBNs sit close together in sequence: 9781608878024 for Cain and 9781608878031 for Tyrael. That closeness is also a listing trap, since a seller can easily transpose them.
Tyrael is volume two of the five tome sequence that the Horadric Vault collects: Cain, Tyrael, Adria, Lorath and, in the later box's period, Prava following after. Insight Editions published only the first two; from Book of Adria onward the publisher is Blizzard Entertainment itself, a change visible on the copyright pages and worth knowing when a listing credits the wrong publisher.
In story terms this is the Diablo III era's own reference book, published the year before Reaper of Souls reshaped its narrator's role. It pairs naturally with Storm of Light, the Kenyon novel that dramatises the same re founding of the Horadrim that Tyrael's tome documents.
No Japanese edition of Book of Tyrael exists, consistent with the whole Diablo reference line, for which the census verified no Japanese editions at all.
