How is the Korean print edition of Solo Leveling different?
A webtoon is drawn as one endless vertical strip, which does not survive being chopped into pages. D&C Webtoon Biz, D&C Media's comics arm, treated the Korean print edition as a new edit of Dubu's art: panels were rearranged, resized and reflowed for the page, and the publisher sells the books on exactly that point, a complete reimagining of the story for print in a generous page size. Volume 1 appeared on September 26, 2019, a year and a half after the webtoon launched.
The physical format is closer to an American graphic novel than to a Japanese tankobon. Volumes run to roughly 300 pages in full color; volume 10, for example, is a 300-page book at about 5.9 by 8.3 inches. The main story completes in volume 13, and volumes 14 and 15 collect the DISCIPLES side stories, with the final volume released on October 21, 2025 at a list price of ₩16,000 (about $11). Boxed sets followed the run, including a volumes 11 to 15 box at ₩76,500 (about $53).
Because the print edition is a recomposition, the Korean books are the reference version for the art on paper, and the English edition follows their page layouts rather than the raw scroll. Collectors comparing a phone episode to the same scene in print will find different panel sizes and different pauses, which is the honest trade of the format: the scroll's endless drops are exchanged for spreads a shelf can hold.
