How was Breath of the Wild's Japanese Collector's Edition different?

No region got everything: Japan traded the carrying case and coin for an amiibo and a second cover.

Breath of the Wild launched worldwide on March 3, 2017 with a different top shelf box in every region. Japan's Collector's Edition bundled the game with the Link (Rider) amiibo, the soundtrack, the tapestry map, and something no Western edition offered: an interchangeable alternate cover for the game case.

The My Nintendo Store's Deluxe Collector's Edition, at ¥13,870 (about $140 at the time), added the Master Sword statue and a set of postcards to the same bundle, making it Japan's counterpart to the West's biggest box.

North America's Master Edition, at $130 at the time, made different choices: the statue, the soundtrack and the map, plus a Sheikah Slate carrying case and a Sheikah Eye coin that Japan never received, and no amiibo and no alternate cover. Europe's Limited Edition was leaner still: game, soundtrack and statue.

The collector's lesson is built into the comparison: the complete Breath of the Wild launch shelf exists in no single country, which is why the editions are documented side by side here.
