Is Carddass No. 42 the same picture as Nagasakiya No. 48?

Yes, figure for figure. Two rival companies sold the same painting in two different frames.

Put the two cards side by side and the answer is immediate. Bandai's Carddass No. 42, titled For The New Legend, and Nagasakiya's No. 48 carry the identical battle illustration: Link at the centre with sword raised, Sheik at the right, the Stalfos below, the Moblin horde around them. The match is figure for figure, confirmed by a direct photographic comparison of the two cards made for this Library in October 2026.

What differs is everything around the painting. The Nagasakiya card prints it full bleed, its red sky running to the card's edges above a gold title band. Bandai crops the same scene onto a red checkerboard prism background and sets it inside an ornate gold frame with red gem orbs: one presentation treats it as a painting, the other as a jewel.

No published source states the reuse outright. Descriptions of Carddass No. 42 give its subject in the same terms as the Nagasakiya card without ever mentioning it, and the connection rests on the photographic evidence, which is unambiguous.

A second bridge between the sets is documented on the No. 22 page: the spin attack art crossed over as well, becoming Carddass No. 37. The two sets were rivals on the shelf and relatives on the art table.
