One Piece figures: Portrait of Pirates explained

Portrait of Pirates (POP) is MegaHouse's premium One Piece figure line, running since 2004 under the Excellent Model banner at roughly 1/8 scale, with sub-lines from the affordable DX to the huge Maximum tier that anchors high-end One Piece shelves.

Longevity is the line's identity: POP has documented the series in figures continuously for two decades, so its catalog is a sculptural index of the manga's eras, early East Blue releases in simpler sculpt and paint beside modern Maximum pieces with effect parts and diorama bases. Characters are revisited as the story redefines them, and the differences between a character's first POP and their latest are a collecting education in how the franchise's visual standards rose.

The tiers sort the buying. Standard Excellent Model releases are the line's core, pre-painted PVC at consistent scale. The WA and Neo-DX lines adjust price and size, the Sailing Again and Warriors Alliance sub-lines mark era restarts and Wano respectively, and Maximum is the prestige tier, larger, heavier, and priced accordingly, with pieces like the Gear Fourth and Kaido Maximums serving as many collections' centerpieces. Limited and Megatrea Shop exclusives carry the usual premium and the usual caution.

Reissues are the market's hinge: MegaHouse reissues popular POP figures with a printed reissue indication, and first-run versus reissue pricing diverges on the famous sculpts. Boxes carry the line's consistent branding and the Toei animation sticker used across Japanese One Piece goods, whose presence and type are standard authenticity checks alongside sculpt sharpness and paint quality, since POP's best pieces are also its most counterfeited.

For a new figure shelf the Library's advice is era-first: choose the saga you love, buy its core crew in one sub-line for scale consistency, and treat Maximum pieces as single statements rather than a set to complete. POP rewards the themed shelf over the complete one more than almost any line in the hobby.
