What are the Attack on Titan compilation movies?
Compilation films are a Japanese institution: the television footage re-edited, re-mixed and re-scored for the big screen. Attack on Titan received five. Crimson Bow and Arrow (22 November 2014) and Wings of Freedom (27 June 2015) cover season 1 in two parts; The Roar of Awakening (13 January 2018) condenses season 2; Chronicle (17 July 2020) recaps seasons 1–3 as a bridge into the Final Season.
The fifth is the exception that justifies the shelf. Attack on Titan: The Last Attack (8 November 2024) compiles MAPPA’s two closing specials and adds a post-credits scene adapted from Attack on School Castes, Isayama’s own alternate-universe comedy shorts printed at the backs of volumes 21–34: the cast, in modern dress, leaving a cinema after watching Attack on Titan. The films are not a substitute for the series, but as objects they document how the franchise was sold to people who had already seen it: bigger sound, one sitting, a poster for the wall.
