What Are the Four Arcs of Vinland Saga?

Four arcs: war, farm, road, and the far shore.

Yukimura structured Vinland Saga as four story arcs, and the shape is the argument of the whole work: a revenge story that dismantles itself. The War Arc (chapters 1 to 54) follows the boy Thorfinn inside Askeladd’s band during the Danish invasion of England. The Slave Arc, often called the Farmland Arc (chapters 55 to 100), strands him on a Danish farm, where the fighting stops and the reckoning starts.

The Eastern Expedition Arc (chapters 101 to 166) sends a changed Thorfinn east to Miklagard, Constantinople, to earn the money for a ship. The final Vinland Arc (chapters 167 to 220) crosses the Atlantic to the settlement attempt on the far shore, among the Mi’kmaq, and closes the series in 2025.

The covers follow the same arc of weather: the gallery shelves the volumes in these four groups.
