What Are the Naruto Shippuden Movies in Order?

The Shippuden film line runs to six theatrical releases between 2007 and 2013: Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007), Bonds (2008), The Will of Fire (2009), The Lost Tower (2010), Blood Prison (2011) and Road to Ninja (2012), with The Last (2014) closing the whole film era under a separate banner.

The first Shippuden film, released months after the television sequel began, opens with a prophecy of Naruto's death and a priestess he must protect, a marketing hook that leaned on the new series' darker branding. Bonds followed with a flying-ninja assault on the Leaf and an uneasy Naruto and Sasuke team-up that the television timeline of the moment could not have staged, a reminder that the films always sold what the current arcs could not show.

The middle pair are the line's most distinctive premises. The Will of Fire builds a war scare around Kakashi as a marked sacrifice, the closest the films came to the television story's emotional register, while The Lost Tower sends Naruto twenty years into the past to fight beside a young Minato, a father-son meeting the manga was still withholding, sold entirely on that forbidden pleasure. Blood Prison, in 2011, drops Naruto into a shinobi prison under a false charge, the line's most self-contained story.

Road to Ninja closes the Shippuden-branded run in 2012 as its commercial peak and creative exception, Kishimoto-authored and documented on its own page of this Library. The Last then arrived in December 2014 as a canon epilogue film rather than a Shippuden entry, and Boruto followed in 2015, which is why filmographies that stop at ten or eleven titles are usually disagreeing about banners, not about films.

For collectors, the six-film Shippuden run is a tidy shelf: annual Japanese programs and posters in a consistent design language, English releases that arrived on a delay in the early years and near-simultaneously later. Watch order for new viewers is simply release order; none of the six requires more than the television arcs of its own year.

The order

1. Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007). 2. Bonds (2008). 3. The Will of Fire (2009). 4. The Lost Tower (2010). 5. Blood Prison (2011). 6. Road to Ninja (2012). Followed by The Last (2014) and Boruto (2015) under their own banners.

Collector note

Count check for listings: eleven theatrical films total from 2004 to 2015. A set claiming completeness with fewer is missing the banner distinctions explained on this page.
