What Attack on Titan games never left Japan?
Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death was developed by Ruby Party, Koei Tecmo’s otome (romance) label, for the Nintendo 3DS. Delayed from March, it released on 11 May 2017 at ¥5,800 (with a ¥12,800 Treasure Box) and was never localized. Its original story strands your created character with a partner of your choosing at Elsnir Castle before the 57th expedition beyond the walls: survival and affection in equal measure, sold to the franchise’s enormous Japanese female readership. It sold 8,599 copies in its first week, a respectable niche, and remains the only Attack on Titan game built by a romance studio.
The rest of the locked shelf: Spike Chunsoft’s Future Coordinates, the second 3DS action game, likewise stayed home; Brave Order (2022) ran its whole service life in Japanese; and the limiting case is Shingeki no Kyojin: Team Battle, Capcom’s announced arcade game, cancelled before release: the only Attack on Titan game that never left Japan because it never arrived anywhere.
