What Demon Slayer should a new collector buy first?

Start with the complete English box set or a Japanese run to read, then add the anchors in order: volume 1, the fanbooks, the Gotouge art book, and one anime object, film or season, in Japanese limited form.

Demon Slayer is the rare modern hit a new collector can still approach calmly, because the work is finished and most of it was printed in enormous quantity. The first purchase should be a reading set: the English complete box set if you read in English, which adds its poster and mini book as built in display pieces, or a Japanese run if you read Japanese or collect by object, since the 23 tankobon are compact, consistent and still sensibly priced in Japan.

Anchors come second, in a deliberate order. Volume 1 in the best printing and condition you can justify, because it is the series' foundation document. The two fanbooks, because they carry canon the manga omits and were read hard by their first owners, so fine copies take finding. Then Gotouge's illustration collection, the one art book that shows the colour work at proper size.

One anime object completes the shape of the phenomenon. The natural choice is Mugen Train in a Japanese limited edition, the film that made the franchise historic, or the first Infinity Castle film's limited edition for collectors who prefer the current era. Either documents Ufotable's half of the story better than a shelf of standard discs.

What to skip at first is equally clear: common later printings at first printing prices, merchandise without a release tie in, and graded or premium presentations of books whose raw supply is still deep. Demon Slayer rewards patience and condition discipline, because the print runs were huge and clean copies keep surfacing from the boom's enormous first audience.
