What Is Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the second part of the Boruto manga, launched in V Jump in August 2023 after a hiatus: a timeskip sequel in which a teenage Boruto, branded a traitor by his own village, returns to a world rewritten by the Omnipotence incident.

The setup is the boldest swing in the franchise since the original timeskip. At the end of Boruto part one, the Otsutsuki power Omnipotence rewrote everyone's memories, swapping Boruto and Kawaki's places in history: Kawaki is now remembered as the Hokage's son, and Boruto as Naruto's killer and a rogue. Part two opens three years later with Boruto allied with a defected Sasuke, hunted by the village, while new enemies, sentient evolutions of the Ten-Tails, take the stage.

The credits continue part one's arrangement: written by Masashi Kishimoto, who took over scripting from Ukyo Kodachi in 2020, and drawn by Mikio Ikemoto, Kishimoto's former assistant, whose sleek, fashion-forward redesigns of the older cast define the new part's look. Two Blue Vortex runs monthly in V Jump, Shueisha's game-and-card focused magazine, where the Boruto manga had already moved from Weekly Shonen Jump in 2019.

Publication shape matters to readers. A monthly chapter of Boruto is roughly double a weekly chapter's length, volumes collect fewer chapters and appear a few times a year, and the English edition runs simultaneously through Viz's digital Shonen Jump, so the modern Boruto shelf grows slowly and identically in both languages, a different rhythm from Naruto's fifteen-year weekly mountain.

For the Library, Two Blue Vortex is documented as the current frontier of the Naruto line: the third serialization era, after the weekly original and the monthly sequel, and the first to build its suspense on the audience's memory of the original cast as adults. Its volumes continue the numbering conversation collectors have with Boruto's first part, so edition notes here cross-reference that shelf directly.

Series facts

Collector note

V Jump issues carrying the launch chapters are the current era's magazine artifacts; the manga's move from weekly to monthly publication is the key edition fact for the whole Boruto line.
