What Is Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 and Road to Boruto?
Storm 4 was built as an ending. Released after the manga concluded, it adapts the war's climax, Kaguya, the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki battles and the final Valley of the End fight with the full resources of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation, and it was marketed from its announcement as the last Storm, a promise the series kept for nearly a decade. Its roster passed 100 playable characters in its complete form, the largest the arena-fighter line had assembled.
The game's reputation rests on its boss spectacles. CyberConnect2's signature cinematic battles, quick-time set pieces layered over free arena combat, reached their peak here: Susanoo against tailed beasts at screen-filling scale, choreographed to the anime's music and voice casts in both Japanese and English. For many fans worldwide, Storm 4's versions of the final battles are the definitive ones, a status games rarely take from their source anime.
Road to Boruto, released as an expansion and as a complete edition in 2017, adapts the Boruto film's story with the new generation playable and an adventure mode in the sequel-era Leaf. It turned Storm 4 into the bridge product between eras, and its complete Switch release in 2020, bundling the whole trilogy's content lineage, kept the game in print long after a normal fighting game's life.
For collectors, Storm 4 is the modern anchor of the Naruto game shelf: standard and complete editions across three console generations of ports, with the Road to Boruto complete edition the one to document carefully, since base, expansion and bundle listings are routinely confused. Japanese and Western covers differ, as this Library's game cover documentation records for the series generally.
