What is the Slam Dunk kanzenban?

The 24-volume deluxe edition of 2001 and 2002: bigger pages, restored color pages and the first of Inoue's returns to the series.

Between the tankobon and the shinsoban stands the kanzenban, Shueisha's deluxe complete edition. Published under the Jump Comics Deluxe imprint from March 19, 2001 to February 2, 2002, it collects the 276 chapters into 24 larger-format volumes.

Kanzenban editions exist to restore what weekly serialization took away. The color pages Inoue drew for Jump's front-of-magazine spreads, printed on cheap newsprint and usually dropped or grayed in tankobon, come back in color, and the bigger page lets his linework and screentone breathe at something closer to the manuscript size he drew at, B4 paper.

The kanzenban cover art was later gathered into the 2020 art book PLUS / SLAM DUNK ILLUSTRATIONS 2 alongside the shinsoban covers, which makes the 24 covers a documented set of their own. It is the least exported of the three editions and the one English-language writing covers worst.
