What Slayers video games are there?

Five RPGs in five years, all Japan-only, and the first two share nothing but the name.

Between 1994 and 1998, five Slayers role-playing games were released in Japan and nowhere else. The line opens with a coincidence that still confuses catalogues: two unrelated games, both titled simply Slayers, shipped in 1994, one for the NEC PC-9801 and one for the Super Famicom. The 32-bit sequels changed genre, becoming tactical RPGs with the anime’s voice cast and full-motion cutscenes.

THE FIVE RPGs

1994–1998 · Japan only
Slayers (PC-9801) · March 25, 1994
Developed by AIC Spirits with Oniro and Studio Orphee, published by Banpresto. Written by Yōsuke Kuroda, who would become a major anime screenwriter; art design by Masayuki Hiraoka.
Slayers (Super Famicom) · June 24, 1994
A different game entirely: BEC’s first-person dungeon RPG for Banpresto, following the novels’ continuity and released a year before the anime existed.
Slayers Royal (Saturn 1997 · PlayStation 1998)
Onion Egg’s tactical RPG for Kadokawa Shoten and ESP, Saturn first (July 25, 1997), PlayStation port by Japan Art Media (April 23, 1998). The first Slayers game with FMV cutscenes and the anime cast’s voices.
Slayers Royal 2 (Saturn 1998 · PlayStation 1999)
The sequel in name, a non-sequel in story: Saturn September 3, 1998, PlayStation July 1, 1999.
Slayers Wonderful (PlayStation) · October 22, 1998
TamTam’s conventional RPG for Banpresto closed the run. After 1998 the franchise’s games stopped; Lina’s later game appearances are guest spots, notably in mobile crossovers from the late 2010s onward.

Cards and tabletop
Slayers Fight (1999–2001)
A collectible card game by ORG, published by Kadokawa Shoten: the franchise’s own card line, running alongside the last novels.
The tabletop line
In Japan, Slayers became an add-on for the MAGIUS role-playing system. In English, Guardians of Order published The Slayers d20 in 2003 with the d20 System, plus three Big Eyes, Small Mouth guidebooks statting the TV cast.
