What was the Ocarina of Time Encyclopedia?
Not every Japanese Ocarina of Time book is a guide. The Ocarina of Time Encyclopedia is a reference volume, a data book about the game's world, characters and systems, and it has the most bibliographically interesting life of the three 1998 to 1999 books.
It was first published by Aspect in April 1999. Then, in June 2000, it appeared again under Enterbrain's imprint: the same book, reissued by a second publisher. Nothing about the project changed except the company putting it out.
That makes the encyclopedia a two variant collectible hiding in plain sight. Copies that look identical on a shelf can be different editions, and the way to tell them apart is the publisher's imprint and the copyright page, not the cover.
The Aspect edition is the scarcer of the two, simply by being first and smaller in presence. For a census driven Library, the pair is a reminder that counting books is not the same as counting editions, and the Zelda shelf counts both.
