Who is making Berserk now?

The friend who heard the ending, and the studio that held the pens.

For a year after Miura’s death, Berserk’s future was officially undecided; volume 41’s own afterword said so. On June 7, 2022, Hakusensha announced the answer. Serialisation resumed on June 24, 2022 in Young Animal, under a three-part credit that now opens every chapter: original work by Kentaro Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervision by Kouji Mori.

Who Studio Gaga is
Gaga is not a contractor hired after the fact. It is Miura’s own studio, the assistants and apprentices who inked beside him for years. The continuation is drawn by the hands that already knew the line.

THE RULE OF THE CONTINUATION

Only what Miura told
The week Mori was locked in
Mori, Miura’s friend since childhood and the artist of Holyland, has told the story himself: some thirty years ago Miura summoned him, kept him at the studio for a week, and talked him through the plot nearly to the final episode. Mori is, by the editors’ account, the only person who was ever told the whole story.
Notes, not invention
The editorial team also found Miura’s own concept memos and character designs among his papers. The stated policy of the continuation is strict: episodes Miura described will be told; episodes he did not are not to be fleshed out from vague memory. Mori supervises the telling, Gaga draws it, and the credit line keeps Miura’s name first.
