Dark Horse comics I: the original series
Dark Horse's Witcher comics began as original stories, not adaptations. Volume 1, House of Glass by Paul Tobin, collects the 2014 five issue series at 9781616554743. Volume 2, Fox Children, also by Tobin, collects the 2015 series at 9781616557935 in distributor and library listings. Volume 3, Curse of Crows, 2017, is 9781506701615. Volume 4, Of Flesh and Flame by Aleksandra Motyka, 2019, is 9781506711096. Volume 5, Fading Memories by Bartosz Sztybor, 2021, is 9781506716572.
One identifier on this page carries a documented discrepancy, stated here exactly as the census records it. Fox Children's publisher page at Penguin Random House titles the volume with the ISBN 9781630083328, while Dark Horse trade paperback listings in distributor and library records give 9781616557935. Both numbers pass the ISBN checksum. The census records 9781616557935 as primary and flags the title for recheck on the publisher page before any affiliate link uses it, and this Library repeats that caution rather than picking silently.
The five volumes were also gathered upward: the first three sit inside The Witcher Omnibus, 9781506713946, and the Library Edition Volume 1, 9781506706825, with later material in Omnibus Volume 2. A collector can therefore own the same stories as trade paperbacks, as an omnibus, or as an oversized library edition, three objects with three identifier sets for substantially the same panels.
In story terms the original series is where the comics found their own Geralt rather than Sapkowski's page Geralt or the games' Geralt: monster contracts, moral traps and consequences that arrive an issue too late to undo. House of Glass remains the standard starting point and Fading Memories the most acclaimed of the five.
No Japanese editions of the Dark Horse volumes are recorded in the census. The comics programme is an English language Dark Horse line, distributed by Penguin Random House.
