The Wolf's Rain Gallery: Key Art and Covers

Two forms of the same wolf, and one cover that puts the whole story in a single frame.

Wolf's Rain sells its premise in its art. The key visual places Kiba's human face beside his wolf face, because that doubling is the show: the wolves are always both. Character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto drew the cast to move between the two shapes without a seam, and the packaging art leans on the contrast every time.

Below are the verified pieces: the key visual, the first Japanese DVD cover, and the first manga volume. Each was checked against a real source before it was shelved here.

THE KEY ART

Kiba, twice

The wolf and the boy

One character · two true shapes
Wolf's Rain key visual: Kiba in human form beside his white wolf form
The key visualKiba as a young man and Kiba as a white wolf, sharing one frame and one gaze. The series' signature image.
Wolf's Rain Japanese DVD volume 1 cover: Darcia carrying Cheza, with Kiba as a white wolf below the moon
Japanese DVD volume 1 · EmotionLord Darcia carries the unconscious Cheza beneath the full moon while Kiba stands below: the hunter, the flower, and the wolf, arranged like an icon.

The two images divide the series between them. The key visual is the wolves' private truth, and the DVD cover is the public myth: a noble, a maiden, and an animal out of legend. Kawamoto's line is fine enough to hold both registers at once.

THE MANGA COVER

Iida's version
Wolf's Rain manga volume 1, Viz Media edition: Kiba with the howling white wolf
Manga volume 1 · Viz Media
Toshitsugu Iida's art for the retelling: Kiba before the howling wolf, in the pink and blue palette the English edition kept from the Japanese original.
What is not pictured
The Japanese DVD volumes 2 to 13 and the second manga volume are documented across this shelf in text. No cover is shown here until a copy can be verified from a real source, the standing rule of this gallery.
