Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and ZEXAL

Two nine volume V Jump series. Neither has an English reprint programme; both survive in English mainly as secondhand sets and digital editions.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, story by Masahiro Hikokubo and art by Masashi Sato, ran in V Jump from 2009 to 2015. Its nine English volumes from Viz, 2011 to 2016, run from 9781421539638 to 9781421585208, with the Japanese volume one at 9784088700632. The manga keeps Neo Domino City, the Signers and Riding Duels, then replaces the anime's machinery with its own: the Duel Dragons, manga exclusive counterparts to the Signer Dragons, and a Skeleton Knight storyline that belongs to the page alone.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, story by Shin Yoshida and art by Naohito Miyoshi, ran from 2010 to 2015, nine volumes, English 9781421549026 to 9781421588162, Viz 2012 to 2016, Japanese volume one 9784088702544. Note the styling: Viz titles the series ZEXAL in capitals where fandom usually writes Zexal, and listings follow Viz. The manga introduces its Numbers and its Astral relationship on a different timetable from the anime and ends on its own terms.

Together the two series are the middle era of Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, and they share the census's honest print verdict: status unknown, no reprint or omnibus found, digital editions active. Distributor signals for 5D's showed only temporary out of stock and back stock patterns, which this Library reports as unknown rather than dressing up as in print.

That status is exactly why verified identifiers matter more for these two series than for the original. A secondhand set cannot be checked against a publisher's current listing, so the volume one and final volume ISBNs recorded here are the anchor points for verifying that a set is the Viz English edition throughout and not mixed with Japanese volumes, which look similar in small listing photos. The Japanese sets begin at 9784088700632 and 9784088702544 respectively.

Readers choosing between them: 5D's manga is the tighter, more self contained reinterpretation, while ZEXAL manga rewards readers who already like its cast from the anime and want the version of the story the anime did not tell.
