Armored Core in manga and television
A 2007 manga in Fujimi Shobo’s line, and a 2024 streaming episode with Keanu Reeves in the cockpit.
Armored Core’s life outside games is thin but real. The manga is Armored Core: Tower City Blade, published by Fujimi Shobo in 2007, during the series’ PlayStation 2 afterglow, a single-volume side story of Ravens and city warfare that has never had an English edition. The screen adaptation arrived seventeen years later and sideways: Amazon’s animated anthology Secret Level (2024), from Tim Miller’s studio, devoted an episode, “Armored Core: Asset Management”, to the series, starring Keanu Reeves as a Raven on one last contract.
For a franchise that skipped a decade, the pattern is telling: print when the games were annual, prestige television when the name itself had become heritage.

Print and screenTower City Blade · 2007
Japan-only, like so much of this archive’s print. A completist’s object: the series’ only manga, from its most prolific era.
Secret Level · 2024
An anthology episode rather than a series, the modern format for game heritage. Reeves’ casting did what casting does: announced that this old mecha line is now a classic worth headlining.
