How many Armored Core games are there?

Fourteen main games, seven spin-offs, three remasters, across five console generations and one long silence.

The count, as the series’ record keeps it: fourteen mainline entries, seven spin-offs, and three remastered re-releases, spread from the original PlayStation in 1997 to the current hardware. The continuity reboots roughly once a generation, the numbered games anchor each era, with expansions and arena titles filling them out, so “which Armored Core is this?” is answered by generation first and title second.

The line’s shape is two long runs and a gap: 1997 to 2013 produced a game most years (Armored Core: Verdict Day closed the run), then nothing for a decade while the Souls catalogue consumed the studio, until Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon reopened the hangar in August 2023 and sold like a headline title, not a revival.

THE GENERATIONS

A counting guide
PlayStation era · 1997–1999
Armored Core, Project Phantasma, Master of Arena: the foundation, and the save-import chain that taught the series’ players to keep their hangars.
PlayStation 2 era · 2000–2005
Armored Core 2, 3, and their expansions, the series’ deepest bench, including the Japan-online Another Age and the silent-line experiments of Nexus and Last Raven.
HD era · 2006–2013
Armored Core 4 (Miyazaki’s directorial debut), For Answer, then the V and Verdict Day pair, faster, more online, and the last word for ten years.
The return · 2023
Fires of Rubicon, numbered VI: the gap itself became the marketing, and the game carried it.
