How many copies did the Pokémon GBA games sell?

Forty million cartridges across the three releases, led by a reboot that needed no one's old saves.

Ruby and Sapphire, released in Japan on November 21, 2002, sold 16.22 million copies between them, the strongest figures of the Game Boy Advance generation and a full reset's worth of proof: cut off from every older cartridge, the series still opened at blockbuster scale.

The remakes followed at 12 million for FireRed and LeafGreen together, a number that reframed what a remake was worth. Twelve million copies of a 1996 game, rebuilt, outsold most new games of 2004 outright, and the industry has chased that template ever since.

Emerald, the third version, sold 6.32 million, in line with Crystal's share of its own generation: the connoisseur's edition, bought by the committed, at roughly a third of its pair's audience.

Add Pokémon Box's narrow Pokémon Center channel and the Colosseum games on GameCube, and the generation's true footprint spreads across two consoles and five years, the GBA cartridges at the center of the largest ecosystem Pokémon had yet built.
