How Many Ultimate Ninja Storm Games Are There?

Eight main Storm games: Storm (2008), Storm 2 (2010), Generations (2012), Storm 3 (2013), Revolution (2014), Storm 4 (2016) and Connections (2023), with Full Burst, Road to Boruto and the Trilogy and Legacy collections as official companion releases.

The Storm games are CyberConnect2's second act: the arena-fighting branch of Ultimate Ninja that began on PlayStation 3. The main sequence runs Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm (2008), Storm 2 (2010), Storm Generations (2012), Storm 3 (2013), Storm Revolution (2014) and Storm 4 (2016), and then, after a long pause, Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections (November 17, 2023), which closed the line by combining its rosters and adding an original Boruto-era story.

Around the numbered spine sit the expansions and collections a catalog has to place: Storm 3 Full Burst (2013), an upgraded re-release of Storm 3 that also brought the series to PC for the first time; Road to Boruto (2017), Storm 4's expansion era; and the 2017 Trilogy and Legacy bundles, which repackaged the earlier games for PlayStation 4 and later Switch. Count main entries and you get eight; count every distinct retail package and the number climbs past a dozen.

The first Storm also holds a regional distinction: it launched in North America in November 2008, two months before its Japanese release in January 2009, the one time this franchise's games debuted in the West first. From Storm 2 onward the releases went worldwide within days, and by Storm 4 the series had become a same-week global launch.

The Storm 4 Collector's Edition

Bandai Namco gave Europe the line's showpiece physical edition with Storm 4 in February 2016: a collector's box containing the game, a FuturePak metal case, a metal art plate of Sasuke, a Storm Memories art book, and a 17 centimeter figurine of Naruto as he appears in The Last. Bandai Namco's own American announcement of the same package did not include a collector's edition, so the Storm 4 box exists as a European and Asian object, one more regional asymmetry in a series full of them.

What the Storm games are

Storm's selling proposition was always the boss battle: arena fights that turn into cinematic set pieces animated like the television show at its best. The series became the reference point for anime arena fighters generally, which is why its sales, covered on a companion page, kept climbing for fifteen years while the PlayStation 2 lines are remembered as history.
