The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda (ゼルダの伝説 — THE HYRULE FANTASY) — Famicom Disk System, Japan, Nintendo, 1986. JP February 21, 1986. From Famicom & NES years in the Zelda Games Gallery.

Launch title for the Famicom Disk System itself, released the same day as the hardware. Original Japanese release was on a rewritable yellow Disk Card, not a cartridge — saves went to the disk, with FDS extra sound channel music that differs from the NES cartridge version.

No battery save in this edition. The "THE HYRULE FANTASY" subtitle appears on the Japanese packaging/title screen and was dropped overseas.
