Zelda II: Link no Bōken

Zelda II: Link no Bōken (リンクの冒険) — Famicom Disk System, Japan, Nintendo, 1987. JP January 14, 1987. From Famicom & NES years in the Zelda Games Gallery.

Released in Japan less than a year after Zelda 1 and *before* the US got Zelda 1 — Japan had the sequel while North America was still waiting for the first game. Side-scrolling / RPG structure differs sharply from Zelda 1.

Like Zelda 1 JP, this is a Disk Card edition, not a cartridge box in the NES sense. The Japanese title drops any "Zelda II" numbering on the front in favour of *Link no Bōken*, with "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA 2" as the series line.

Across the Pacific in this gallery: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
