What Monster Hunter art books are there?

A small shelf with two giants on it: UDON’s Illustrations volumes, and a 560-page anatomical study of World.

The core shelf is three books. Monster Hunter Illustrations (UDON) covers the first two generations, the PS2 and PSP games, in 304 pages of production art, monster concepts, and interviews with the founding team; Illustrations 2 follows with 400 pages on the third generation, Tri, Portable 3rd, and 3 Ultimate. Both reached English readers in softcover first and were reissued as hardcovers in late 2018, at $44.99 and $54.99.

The monument is Monster Hunter: World, The Official Complete Works, published in Japan in January 2019 and in English by VIZ in August 2020: 560 pages presenting the fifth generation’s monsters almost scientifically, with habits, environments, and skeletal diagrams alongside the concept art. It is the design philosophy of the series bound as a book. The honest caveat for collectors: only a handful of Monster Hunter books have ever received official English editions, and most of the Japanese shelf, the hunting-life and ecology volumes among them, remains untranslated.
