What Soul Eater art books exist?

Two Soul Art volumes collect Ohkubo's color work in large format, joined by Japanese character and world guidebooks from the Gangan era.

The centerpiece art books are Atsushi Ohkubo's Soul Eater Soul Art and Soul Art 2, published by Square Enix in Japan in 2009 and 2015 and later issued in English by Yen Press. They gather the series' color illustrations, magazine covers, chapter color pages and promotional art at large trim size, the format Ohkubo's poster style compositions were always designed for.

The selection explains the series' visual history. Early pieces show the prologue era designs settling; later work shows the darker, denser color of the war arcs, plus crossover and anniversary pieces that never appeared inside the manga. For art focused collectors, these two volumes are the standard way to own Ohkubo's color without chasing magazine back issues.

Japan also received guidebook support during serialization, including character and world references in the Gangan tradition, data on teams, souls and techniques, and behind the scenes material on Death City's design. These books are Japanese language references, bought by overseas fans mainly for their art and maps, and they date from the serialization years, which makes them period documents as well as references.

The anime generated its own print line in Japan: design works and guide publications for the Bones production, covering Nakajima era character models for the screen. As with Ranma in the Library's Takahashi pages, the rule is to credit the hand correctly: manga art books collect Ohkubo; anime design books collect the adaptation staff's work built on his designs.

Buying notes are straightforward. The English Soul Art editions match the Japanese contents closely and are the practical purchase outside Japan; Japanese first editions carry the usual obi and printing distinctions. Either way, the pair belongs beside the Perfect Edition on any art led Soul Eater shelf.
