What Are Kayou Naruto Cards, and Is a New Bandai Card Game Coming?
Two different products share the modern Naruto card shelves. Kayou, a major Chinese card maker, produces officially licensed Naruto collectible cards under license from Pierrot, sold across China since the early 2020s and reaching North American distribution in October 2025. Kayou cards are pure collectibles: tiered rarities, chase treatments and character art, with no game rules at all. A collector who buys Kayou is buying the card as an object, the way one buys a phone card or a bromide.
Bandai's cards are the opposite tradition: a playable game. And in June 2026 Bandai Card Games announced that the tradition is returning. The new Naruto Card Game was revealed on June 18, 2026, reported the same day by Anime News Network and ICv2: Bandai planned free tutorial sessions, with a gift card for attendees, at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis (July 30 to August 2), ahead of a worldwide launch in 2027.
It is Bandai's first Naruto card game since the 2006 to 2013 CCG, and it arrives from a very different company than the one that let that game die: the modern Bandai card division runs the One Piece Card Game, the Digimon Card Game and Dragon Ball's Fusion World. Whether the new game revives vintage interest or replaces it, the Library now has a live card story to document again.
Telling Kayou from Bandai at a glance
The fastest tell is the back and the branding: Kayou cards carry Kayou's marks and Chinese-market design language, with rarity tiers expressed in letter codes, while Bandai CCG cards carry the English game's layout, dot rarity at the base and Bandai America branding. Nothing about a Kayou card makes it a CCG card, and listings that blur the two are the most common identification error in the modern Naruto card market.
A living entry
This page is dated by design. The new game's card designs and roadmap were scheduled to be revealed around Gen Con 2026, and its worldwide release is set for 2027. The Library will update this entry as the game takes physical form: first printings, launch sets and the inevitable question of how its cards relate to the 2006 game's.
