What are Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers and Soldiers’ Soul?
The games that finally let the whole world, America included, into the Sanctuary.
Brave Soldiers (PlayStation 3, October 17, 2013) was Dimps’ graduation piece: the first Saint Seiya game to stage all three acts of Kurumada’s manga, Sanctuary, Poseidon and Hades, in one roster. It was also a homecoming: released in Japan, Europe (November 22) and, at last, the United States (November 26, 2013). Soldiers’ Soul followed on September 25, 2015 for PS3 and PS4, adding the Soul of Gold Saints and reaching PC that November.
THE ROAD HERE
Senki to Soldiers’ SoulSanctuary Battle · PS3 · 2011
The HD bridge: Saint Seiya Senki in Japan (November 23, 2011), a musou-style brawler through the Sanctuary arc. Europe and Latin America received it in 2012, under local titles; North America did not, the last time the region was skipped.
Brave Soldiers · PS3 · 2013
Versus fighting replaces crowd brawling; the full manga becomes the campaign. Brazil received it as Bravos Soldados, Korea day-and-date with Japan, small print that shows how global the audience had become.
Soldiers’ Soul · 2015
The refinement: PS4-native, the Asgard and Soul of Gold material folded in, Latin America as Alma de Soldados. Its PC release on November 27, 2015 closed the last regional gap for good.
THE COLLECTOR’S CUT
Which copies existRegional editions
Japanese, European, North American and Latin American editions all exist for both games, with localised titles and cover dress. A full regional set is a shelf that maps the fandom exactly.
The download caveat
The North American Brave Soldiers arrived as a digital-first release, which is why the region’s physical shelf leans on the PS4 Soldiers’ Soul. Check a listing’s region before its price: the discs are not interchangeable across all territories and formats.
