What comes in the Persona 5 Take Your Heart Edition?
The bag is the signature piece: a replica of the Shujin Academy school bag the protagonist carries, sized to actually use, which made this edition instantly recognizable and instantly argued about, since a wearable prop ages differently from a shelf statue. Inside it, the game disc came in a SteelBook case printed with the Phantom Thieves, separate from the standard edition's case and cover art.
The paper and plastic goods fill out the box: a 64 page hardcover art book drawing on Soejima's character art, a soundtrack CD with a selection of Shoji Meguro's score rather than the full multi disc soundtrack Japan sold separately, and a Morgana plush keychain scale figure of the team's mascot. The whole set shipped in a large printed collector's box that most owners kept, which matters because the box is part of the object.
Royal got its own Western editions in 2020: a Launch Edition with a SteelBook and soundtrack download, and the Phantom Thieves Edition, which swapped the bag concept for a Joker mask display stand, an art book, a soundtrack CD and a SteelBook in a collector's box. Comparing the two generations of boxes shows Atlus learning what its Western audience displays rather than wears.
Japan's editions differ again, with store specific bonuses, tapestry and acrylic goods varying by retailer, a pattern that makes Japanese Persona limited editions a per store matrix rather than a single box. The Western boxes are simpler: one big edition per launch, which is why complete, bag included Take Your Heart sets are the benchmark Western Persona 5 collectible.
Condition notes for buyers: the bag's straps and printed logos, the plush's tags and the art book's binding are the wear points, and a set missing the outer box or the CD is common on the secondhand market. As with every edition in this shelf, completeness is the grade: game, SteelBook, bag, book, CD, plush and box, all present.
