What does the Mother 3 box look like?

The most designed box of the three: a logo built out of wood and riveted metal, for a game about nature and industry colliding.

Mother 3 was released in Japan on April 20, 2006 for the Game Boy Advance, developed by Brownie Brown and HAL Laboratory, priced at ¥4,800 (about $41 at the time). Like its two predecessors it exists in exactly one retail box, because it was never released anywhere else.

The box art is the game's famous title treatment: the words MOTHER 3 rendered as a physical object, letters of rough wood bound and patched with riveted metal plates, set against a plain field. The logo is the whole cover. It states the game's central tension without a single character: the natural world, rebuilt by industry.

That logo became the series' most reused piece of design in Japan, appearing across the Deluxe Box hardware, Hobonichi goods and the game's soundtrack albums, and it is the fastest way to identify genuine Japanese Mother 3 material at a glance.

Standard Japanese copies are loose-cartridge common and complete-in-box scarcer, and the box completes the three-game row: 1989's black space and red letters, 1994's deep red, and 2006's wood and steel.
