What Fairy Tail Video Games Are There?
A PSP trilogy, a Gust RPG, and a deckbuilder Mashima paid for himself.
The games divide into three generations. First, Konami's handheld line of 2010–2012: three PSP action games in the Portable Guild line and two DS fighters, all released only in Japan. Second, the console RPGs by Gust, Koei Tecmo's studio, in 2020 and 2024, the first Fairy Tail games built for a worldwide audience.
Third, and strangest, the indie games: in 2021 Mashima personally bankrolled a development contest through Kodansha Game Creators' Lab, most of the prize money coming from his own pocket, and its winners include a roguelike deckbuilder. Few manga properties of this size have ever handed themselves to independent developers that way.

The contest, 2021
At the end of 2021 Mashima did something no other major manga artist had: he approached Kodansha Game Creators' Lab with a contest for indie Fairy Tail games, a prize pool of about $132,300, of which $88,200 was his own money. Three winning projects were chosen in March 2023.
Dungeons, 2024 · the deckbuilder
The first winner to ship: Fairy Tail: Dungeons, a roguelike deck-building game released on Steam on August 26, 2024, the guild rebuilt as a card-driven dungeon crawl by a small independent team.
