What is Attack on Titan 2 (the game)?

The sequel’s gamble: you are not Eren. You are the scout standing next to him.

Attack on Titan 2 (Omega Force, Japan 15 March 2018; worldwide 20 March 2018) rebuilt the formula around an original, player-created protagonist, a new recruit whose diary frames the story. Through that witness it retells the anime’s first two seasons from inside the crowd: you train, befriend the named cast in daily-life scenes between missions, and fight the famous battles from an angle the anime never showed. Because the manga was still running, the base game closes with an original ending that is explicitly not the story’s real one.

The platform list marks the era: PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One worldwide with Windows (the Vita version stayed in Japan), the series arriving on a Nintendo console with the Switch. The created-scout device proved durable enough that the Final Battle expansion kept it and simply extended the story it could witness, and the 2026 finale inherits the same save-the-world-from-inside framing.

THE DESIGN CHOICE

A witness, not a hero
Character creation as canon tool
Your scout has no name in the story’s records, which is the point: the game can put you in every famous scene without rewriting any of them.
Friendship between battles
Daily-life episodes with the cast gate ability unlocks, a visual-novel layer bolted onto a Warriors engine. It is the feature players remember second, after the flying.
