What is One-Punch Man’s sibling, Mob Psycho 100?
The other ONE series: same author, same premise shape, but this one he drew himself, and this one ends.
While the world was reading Murata’s One-Punch Man, ONE was running a second series entirely on his own. Mob Psycho 100 follows Mob, a boy with overwhelming psychic power who wants only an ordinary life: the same inversion as Saitama, played for feeling instead of comedy. It ran in Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday from April 18, 2012 to December 22, 2017, and it is complete in 16 volumes.
THE SIBLING, IN DETAIL
Ura Sunday · 2012 to 2017ONE kept the pen
Mob Psycho 100 is written and drawn by ONE, in a style far closer to the One-Punch Man webcomic than to Murata’s finish. Read side by side, the two series are the cleanest possible demonstration of what a master redrawer adds.
The anime went to Bones
Studio Bones adapted Mob Psycho 100 in three seasons, 2016, 2019, and 2022, 37 episodes and two OVAs in all, and the adaptation is regarded as one of the finest of its decade. The sibling got the prestige studio treatment its brother lost.
Honors and English editions
Mob Psycho 100 won the shonen category of the 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award in 2017. Dark Horse publishes the English edition: all 16 volumes, from October 2018 to May 2026. A spinoff about Mob’s mentor, Reigen, ran in 2018 and 2019.
Finished, on purpose
Mob Psycho 100 ends. ONE closed it at 101 chapters while One-Punch Man, the older series, continues. On this shelf it is the control case: proof the author can land a story when the story is his alone.
