What is Saint Cloth Myth?

The toy the manga was always secretly designing: armour you can hold.

Saint Cloth Myth (Seinto Kurosu Maisu) is Bandai’s collector figure line for Saint Seiya, produced by Tamashii Nations. It launched in late 2003, timed to the Hades Chapter OVAs, initially planned as just the five Bronze Saints, and grew into the definitive Saint Seiya collection: articulated figures of roughly 15 cm whose die-cast and plastic Cloths come off the body and assemble into the constellation Object, exactly as drawn.

THE LINEAGE

1987 to 2003 to today
The Saint Cloth Series · 1987
The ancestor: Bandai’s original toy line, sold while the anime aired, with simpler bodies and the same essential trick, armour that becomes the constellation. A generation of French and Japanese children owned these; the Myth line is their adult answer.
Myth Cloth · 2003
The revival: anime-accurate sculpts after Araki and Himeno’s designs, vastly improved articulation, die-cast armour. Seiya and Shiryu arrived first, at the end of 2003, the rest of the five by spring 2004, and the catalogue never stopped expanding.
Appendix · 2007
The companion line of busts, casual-outfit figures and Cloth boxes, for dressing the shelf around the figures.
Myth Cloth EX · 2011
The rebuild: announced May 2011, launched with Gemini Saga on August 27, 2011. Larger (about 18 cm), slimmer, more articulate, the modern standard. The same year brought the 30 cm Cloth Crown line above it.
Revival and OCE
From 2017, Revival reissues returned sold-out figures to shelves; Original Color Editions repaint releases in the manga’s colours, for the collectors who want Kurumada’s palette on Araki’s sculpt.

WHY IT RULES THE HOBBY

The collector’s centre
The complete-roster promise
The line has worked toward every Saint in the story, Gold, Bronze, Silver, gods and specters, across the classic series and its spin-offs. A Myth Cloth shelf is the closest thing the franchise has to a complete material edition of itself.
Check before you buy
Releases span two decades, two body generations and multiple reissue lines sharing character names. Version, generation (Myth or EX), and edition (regular, Revival, OCE, limited) are the three facts that define a figure, and its price.
