What is the new Magic Knight Rayearth anime?
A full remake, thirty years after the original series.
On July 2, 2024, a new Rayearth anime project was announced to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the television series. It was later confirmed as what the anniversary deserved: a remake television series, planned and produced by TMS Entertainment, the studio of the 1994 original, with animation by E&H Production.
The series premiered on October 7, 2026, in the IMAnimation W block on TV Asahi, and is set to run for two consecutive cours. As this page is written, its first cour is on the air in Japan, with Crunchyroll streaming the series internationally.

Why a remake, why now
The anniversary arithmetic is the public reason: thirty years since 1994. The fuller one is on the rest of this shelf: a manga whose English hardcovers sold out a twenty-fifth anniversary, an original series rescued onto Blu-ray, and an ending that a new generation keeps arriving at and arguing about.
