What Japanese guides did Link's Awakening get?

Three waves of them, one per version of the game, across twenty six years.

Link's Awakening is a small game with a long paper trail. The Game Boy original received two licensed Japanese books in 1993: a Shogakukan guide issued in mook form, sold with a magazine code rather than a standard book ISBN, and a Futabasha strategy book the same year.

The colour remake brought the label back. Link's Awakening DX received a Wonder Life Special guidebook from Shogakukan on February 20, 1999, a compact 112 page A5 volume for a game that had grown a colour dungeon and a camera shop since 1993.

The Switch remake completed the pattern in 2019 with a Nintendo DREAM guidebook, which means every version of Koholint Island a Japanese player could buy arrived with a licensed book beside it.

For collectors the 1993 Shogakukan mook is the identification exercise of the three: without a standard ISBN on it, the book is confirmed by its magazine code and its place in the Wonder Life line, the kind of detail this Library's census records book by book.
