What Japanese guides did the Zelda remakes get?
Remakes are where Japan's guide market proved it still had the old reflexes. Ocarina of Time 3D received four licensed Japanese guides in the summer of 2011: Nintendo DREAM on July 1, ASCII Media Works on July 8, Shogakukan on August 4 and Enterbrain's Perfect guide on August 20, a four way race for a remake of a thirteen year old game.
Majora's Mask 3D produced the shelf's great exception. Shogakukan's official guidebook exists, and its cover is the identical painting to Prima's American guide, with only the branding and text differing: the same art with a different treatment, in a census where exact cover matches otherwise number zero. Kadokawa's Famitsu Perfect guide gives the game a second Japanese book.
The Wii U remasters were quieter: one Shogakukan guide each for The Wind Waker HD in 2013 and Twilight Princess HD in 2016. Skyward Sword HD in 2021 received a Nintendo DREAM guide in Japan, and no American guide at all, because Prima had ceased publishing by then.
Counted up, the remakes hold nine licensed Japanese books between them, which is why this Library gives them a page of their own instead of folding them into their originals.
