What Pokémon can you only get in Red, Green or Blue?

Eleven species per side, and the split was the whole point: no single cartridge could finish the Pokédex.

Version exclusives were the engine of the link cable. Red players found Ekans, Arbok, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Scyther and Electabuzz in the wild. Green players, and Western Blue players with them, found Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Magmar and Pinsir.

Everything else had to move between cartridges. Trade evolutions such as Machoke into Machamp and Kadabra into Alakazam only happen through a trade, the starter Pokémon a player did not choose exist only on someone else's game, and each Game Corner, fossil choice and Eevee evolution locks one path while opening another.

Japanese Blue shuffled the deck one more time: its exclusives match neither list exactly, because its encounter tables were remixed for the special edition. The full tile list below follows Bulbapedia's version-exclusive table for Red, Green and Western Blue.
