Who drew the Solo Leveling webtoon?

Jang Sung-rak, known as Dubu, of REDICE STUDIO, with the script adapted first by Gi So-Ryeong and then by h-goon.

The webtoon that made Solo Leveling a visual phenomenon was drawn by Jang Sung-rak, who worked as Dubu and ran REDICE STUDIO as its CEO. Chugong's novel was adapted for comics by Gi So-Ryeong in the early run and by h-goon from 2019 onward; the credit line on the collected volumes reads Dubu (REDICE STUDIO), Chugong and h-goon, published by D&C Media. The first episode posted on KakaoPage on March 4, 2018.

The run fell into two seasons. Season one ended on March 19, 2020; season two opened on August 1, 2020 and closed the main story on December 29, 2021 with episode 179. Dubu's pages set the franchise's look: the violet glow of the shadow army, the System's blue windows, and action scenes built for the vertical scroll, where a single figure can fall the length of a phone screen.

Dubu did not live to see the anime. He died on July 23, 2022, of a cerebral hemorrhage, aged 37. The webtoon was already complete, but his death shaped everything REDICE STUDIO made afterward: the side stories were drawn by his studio's artists working as the DISCIPLES team, explicitly carrying a house style that had been one man's hand.
