Who is Sui Ishida?

A Fukuoka artist who keeps his private life private, and signs everything with the same pen name.

Sui Ishida (石田 スイ) is a pen name. He was born on December 28, 1986, in Fukuoka Prefecture, and began drawing as a small child, encouraged by his elder sister, who also became a writer: Shin Towada, author of the Tokyo Ghoul novels.

Before his professional debut he posted webcomics under other names: a first webcomic in 2009 as Nashimoto, whose data was later lost to a hard-drive failure, and THE PENISMAN in 2010 as Sotonami, the handle he still uses. The Tokyo Ghoul one-shot then took second place in the 113th Young Jump Grand Prix in 2010, and his career in print followed from it directly.
