Why has Bloodborne never been remastered?

No remaster, no port, no 60-frame patch: the most requested revival in games, unmade for documented reasons.

The facts first. Bloodborne remains, a decade after release, available only as the 2015 PlayStation 4 game. There has been no remaster, no PC port, and no performance update; it stands nearly alone among Sony’s modern hits in never receiving one. The clamour is documented as loudly as the absence: when Sony’s PlayStation social account asked followers in 2022 which legacy title deserved revival, Bloodborne polled at more than half the vote, and still nothing followed.

The most concrete explanation on record comes from the remake specialists: Bluepoint Games, who rebuilt Demon’s Souls for the PS5, pitched a Bloodborne remake or remaster some time after, and were told FromSoftware was not interested. The studio’s position, as Miyazaki has framed such matters, is that he prefers players experience these games fresh rather than through his reworkings, and that he is simply too busy. The hunt, for now, stays where it started.

Yharnam at night in Bloodborne
YHARNAM Yharnam as the 2015 release still renders it: the argument for a remaster starts with how much beauty is already on the disc.

THE RECORD

What is actually documented
The 2022 poll
Sony’s own bracket of legacy PlayStation titles put Bloodborne against the catalogue; it won with over 50 percent. Demand has never been the missing piece.
Bluepoint’s pitch
The one team with a shipped Souls remake asked, and the answer was no. Whatever unlocks Bloodborne’s future, it was not a shortage of willing craftsmen.
Meanwhile, everything else
Demon’s Souls was remade in 2020; Dark Souls was remastered in 2018; even Elden Ring travels to new hardware. Bloodborne’s singularity is now part of its identity, and, on this Library’s evidence, part of its value.
