The shelf object of the wax era: a 48-pack display box, 5½ × 7½ × 1½ inches, documented in a Hake’s auction of a complete box from the John Grossman Collection. The box art is a Mario scene — with a small picture of Link on the side panel. Punch-Out!! and Double Dragon, half the checklist between them, appear nowhere on the packaging.
Pack collation inside is documented: of the three wrapper designs, a box holds Mario 24, Princess Toadstool 12 and Link 12.
