Is there a Spy x Family stage musical?
There is, and it plays the biggest room in Japanese theatre. Musical Spy x Family, produced by Toho, premiered at Tokyo's Imperial Theatre on March 8, 2023, directed and written by G2, who also wrote the lyrics, with music composed and arranged by Shuhei Kamimura. The production then toured nationally, playing the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in April 2023 and the Hakata-za Theatre in Fukuoka in May.
The casting solves the story's problems the way the story would. Loid was double-cast, played by Win Morisaki and Hiroki Suzuki, and Yor by Fuka Yuduki and Mirei Sasaki. Anya, a small child carrying a full musical, was played by four actresses in rotation, chosen by open audition: Risa Masuda, Aoi Ikemuda, Miharu Izawa and Miharu Fukuchi. Kurumu Okamiya played Yuri, and Manato Asaka, a former Takarazuka top star, played handler Sylvia Sherwood.
The musical's success earned a second production, announced at Jump Festa '25 in December 2024, which toured multiple cities from September 20 to December 30, 2025. Morisaki and Yuduki returned as Loid and Yor, joined by Genki Hirakata and Sora Kazuki in the same roles, and four new Anyas were cast by audition: Rana Izutani, Mirei Tsukino, Mio Nishiyama and Nonoka Murakata. A franchise that can fill the Imperial Theatre twice has left the page entirely.
