What is the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes anime?
The last My Hero Academia anime to begin, and the one that ends the prequel.
The Vigilantes manga finished in 2022; the anime arrived at the very end of the franchise’s first era. Announced at Jump Festa ’25 on 22 December 2024, the adaptation was produced by Bones Film, directed by Kenichi Suzuki, with scripts by Yosuke Kuroda, the main series’ own writer, and music by Yuki Hayashi with Shogo Yamashiro and Yuki Furuhashi.
Season 1 ran 7 April to 30 June 2025; season 2 followed 5 January to 30 March 2026: 26 episodes in total, streamed worldwide by Crunchyroll. It adapts the complete prequel, Koichi’s arc from unlicensed helper to something the law has to reckon with, and it closed just weeks before the main series’ own bonus special aired in May 2026.

THE PRODUCTION
Bones Film · 2025 to 2026The studio handoff
Not Bones’ main unit but Bones Film, the group behind the SK8 the Infinity and Hi-Drive films: the franchise kept in the family while the main team finished the final season.
The returning writer
Yosuke Kuroda wrote both series. The prequel’s darker, street-level tone is a deliberate change of register from the same pen.
The music desk
Yuki Hayashi, the franchise composer, joined by Shogo Yamashiro and Yuki Furuhashi: the sound is related to the main series without copying it.
THE RUN
Two seasons · 26 episodesSeason 1 · 2025
13 Mondays from 7 April 2025: the Crawler, Knuckleduster, and Pop Step introduced, and the Trigger trade established.
Season 2 · 2026
5 January to 30 March 2026: the story’s back half, the Sky Egg incident and the long goodbye of Knuckleduster’s war.
The place in the era
Announced the month the manga’s final volume shipped, aired between the main series’ final season and its closing special: the franchise folded its own prequel in last, on purpose.
