Terranigma Is Coming Back, and America Gets It Physically for the First Time

On August 24, 2026, Clear River Games, working with Square Enix, announced a modern re-release of Terranigma, Quintet's 1995 action RPG about resurrecting the world. It launches January 14, 2027.
The original release is the strange part. Terranigma came out in Japan and in Europe, but never officially in North America. For three decades, the only way to own it physically was to import a Japanese or PAL copy of a game most American players had only heard about.
The physical release is the Gaia Edition at $199.99, and demand has already pushed it into a second production run, which tells you the audience for this one is real and not just nostalgic noise.
Original Japanese and PAL copies have carried this market alone for thirty years. A legitimate North American physical edition changes who can enter it. Prices on original prints tend to get loudest in the hype window before a re-release actually lands, so the disciplined read is to watch January rather than chase November listings.
