What is Killer Cuts, the Killer Instinct soundtrack album?

A full arranged album, given away inside the game box.

In 1995, the Super NES release of Killer Instinct arrived with a second product inside: Killer Cuts, a proper arranged soundtrack CD, remixes of the game's stage themes recorded as an album, not a data dump. It was packaged with the game at launch, and, by the commonly documented figure, only the first 100,000 copies included it, which is why complete boxed copies are hunted by the soundtrack as much as by the game.

The music is Rare's in house work: Robin Beanland composed and arranged most of it, with Graeme Norgate on four tracks, vocals from Faye Newborough and Chris Sutherland, and mixing at AIR Studios. The disc ends with a joke only a CD could tell: tracks 16 to 29 are four seconds of silence each, hiding track 30, Humiliation, the dance theme from the game's humiliation finishers.

INSIDE THE DISC

Fifteen songs, fourteen silences, one secret
Killer Instinct Gold American Nintendo 64 box art
The Sequel on N64 · 1996
The Library's Killer Instinct shelf is the Gold cluster. Killer Cuts belongs to the earlier Super NES game, and its follow up album a year later was named for this one: Killer Instinct Gold Cuts.
The Instinct
The album's centerpiece, Beanland's main theme remix at nearly five minutes, the arcade attract music rebuilt as a club track. The 2016 iam8bit vinyl reissue kept it in the same running order.
Two Songs From Nowhere
The Way U Move and It's a Jungle appear on the album but in no version of the game, arcade, Super NES, or Game Boy. Killer Cuts is partly an album of music Killer Instinct never used.
Sold Separately Too
Beyond the pack in, the CD and a cassette edition were sold through Nintendo Power's Super Power Supplies catalog, an official soundtrack sold like a fan club item.
