What is Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii?
The Mad Dog gets his own game at last, and it is about pirate ships. Of course it is.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launched worldwide on February 21, 2025, as a sequel and side story to Infinite Wealth. Six months after that game's events, Goro Majima washes up on a Hawaiian island with no memory, is taken in by a boy named Noah, and ends up captaining a pirate vessel, the Goromaru, hunting a legendary treasure across the Pacific.
WHY IT EXISTS
The second man, firstA debt repaid
Majima co-led Zero, anchored Kiwami's additions and carried Dead Souls' marketing, but never headlined a game in twenty years. Pirate Yakuza is the studio paying the debt, in the most Majima register available: cutlasses, sea shanties and naval cannon battles bolted onto the brawler.
The world after Infinite Wealth
It reuses Hawaii and grows outward: island-hopping, ship customization, a crew to recruit, and the series' substory machinery running at full sail through a story about a man rebuilding an identity from the pieces strangers hand him.
The 20th year
Released in the franchise's twentieth-anniversary year, between Infinite Wealth and Kiwami 3, it confirmed the modern pattern: the numbered RPGs advance the saga while character-led action games keep the old energy, and the old cast, in circulation.
