What is Tokyo Ghoul Zakki?

Zakki is where the covers live when they are not on books: Ishida’s illustration collections.

Tokyo Ghoul [zakki] is a full-colour illustration book released by Shueisha on October 17, 2014, the same day as the manga’s final volume (ISBN 978-4-08-890068-1). It collects the series’ promotional images and volume covers together with unreleased concept art, with commentary by Ishida: the closest thing the first series has to an author’s sketchbook in print.

A companion volume followed for the sequel. Viz Media published both in English hardcover: Tokyo Ghoul Illustrations: zakki on November 21, 2017, and Tokyo Ghoul:re Illustrations: zakki on November 17, 2020, a 296-page book adding behind-the-scenes notes and a Q&A with Ishida.
