Collecting Langrisser
A series the West mostly missed is a series the West can still mostly afford. Mostly.
Langrisser collecting splits cleanly in two. The American door is a single cartridge, Warsong, and the modern remake; the Japanese shelf behind it is deep, handsome, and, because the series never built a Western price bubble, still priced like a hobby rather than an asset class. Prices on this page are dated history, recorded from PriceCharting on November 3, 2026, not promises: check the current market before you spend.
What follows is the shape of a collection: the anchor objects, the paper, and the practical routes to actually playing the games in English.
THE AMERICAN DOOR
Warsong, priced as of November 3, 2026Warsong · Genesis
Loose: $59.95. Complete in box: $134.95. New and sealed: $337.00. (PriceCharting, recorded November 3, 2026.) The complete copy is the one to own: Treco’s blackletter box is the American face of the series.
The cheap seat
Warsong is built into the Sega Genesis Mini 2 (2022), and the 2019 remake includes the first game entire. Playing Warsong has never been cheaper than it is now; owning the 1991 cartridge is a separate pleasure.
Langrisser I & II · PS4
The remake’s standard edition: loose $43.15, complete $44.57, new $57.32 on the same date. NIS America’s limited edition launched at $79.99 in 2020; the Steam edition lists at $49.99.
THE ANCHOR OBJECTS
The Japanese shelf’s peaksLangrisser Tribute · Saturn · 1998
The five-game box set with its hardcover manual and the Langrisser telephone card: the single most characteristic object the series ever produced, and the first thing a serious shelf reaches for.
Langrisser III limited edition · Saturn · 1996
The prequel’s limited edition adds an art book and a holographic cover to the standard release. Verify the hologram in hand: it is the edition’s whole point.
Dramatic Edition · Saturn · 1998
The fullest classic versions of I and II in one set. The Japanese Saturn Langrissers remain common and affordable in Japan; condition and the obi strip are where the money hides.
THE PAPER
Guides and art booksThe guides
Seventeen or more official Japanese guides exist; Suruga-ya has listed the Der Langrisser winning-strategy book at 1,400 yen. The full shelf is documented on the guides page.
The art books
Urushihara’s Langrisser Complete I II III (1996, ISBN 4-89389-126-X) and Legend of Langrisser (1998, ISBN 4-05-601955-X) are the two dedicated volumes; both are covered on the artist page.
PLAYING THEM IN ENGLISH
The practical routesOfficially
Warsong (1991), Re:Incarnation Tensei (2016), Langrisser Mobile (2019), and the I & II remake (2020) are the official English line. Everything else needs help.
By fan translation
Complete patches exist for Langrisser II (Mega Drive), Der Langrisser (Super Famicom), and Langrisser IV (PlayStation), and Langrisser III’s Saturn original joined them in 2026. Langrisser V remains the untranslated summit of the classic series.
